Before joining IdeaLegal in December 2017, Amanda Gratchner served as Global Privacy Officer and Senior Counsel at NAVEX Global, a governance, risk and compliance software company with over 1,000 employees and offices in the US and UK. During her tenure (2004 to 2017), she built and managed a legal team of five and served in a variety of roles, including General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Privacy Officer for EthicsPoint, Inc., a predecessor to NAVEX Global and Chair of the organization's Privacy and Security Committee. In addition, she helped build, sell and deploy a consulting line of business through NAVEX Global’s professional services group.
Amanda has vast experience in negotiating Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) agreements, joint venture and channel partner agreements, data transfer and processing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and IP licensing agreements. She has negotiated with businesses big and small—from 10 employee companies to Fortune 100—all with an eye toward cooperatively getting the deal done. She has worked with individuals from around the globe and understands the importance of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and creativity in addressing issues and concerns.
Amanda is a frequent speaker (locally and nationally) on issues related to data privacy compliance, the impacts of global privacy laws on U.S. businesses, and privacy by design.
Amanda earned her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School and a BA in psychology from University of California at Los Angeles. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional for both Europe (CIPP/E) and the United States (CIPP/US).
